Cynthia Herrington, M.D.
Dr. Cynthia Herrington is the surgical director of Lung/Heart-Lung Transplantation. A graduate of Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine, Dr. Herrington completed an internship and residency in general surgery in Shaker Heights, Ohio. Following completion of our Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery fellowship program, she did an additional fellowship in congenital cardiovascular and thoracic surgery at Childrens Hospital in Los Angeles. Dr. Herrington joined the University of Minnesota faculty in July 1999 as an assistant professor of surgery. Board certified in both General and Thoracic Surgery, she serves as associate program director of the Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery Fellowship program.
In addition to her expertise in general congenital heart disease, Dr. Herrington’s special interests include pediatric heart and lung transplantation and support devices. Her experience in living lobar lung transplantation has allowed University of Minnesota Medical Center to become a leader in this field.
