Abhinav Humar, M.D.
Minneapolis-St. Paul Magazine based on a regional survey of medical professionals recently named Dr. Humar a Top Doctor. He is well recognized as an excellent surgeon and researcher in the field of abdominal transplantation, both regionally and nationally.
Dr. Humar is extremely dedicated to his patients. In addition, he is exceptionally productive academically, regularly synthesizing important results of his research projects. Not only has he assumed responsibility for supervising the instruction of surgical residents in their transplant rotation, but he has also instituted an internship program for pre-medical students. Dr. Humar has served on committees to produce a video for living donors, organize fundraising events, increase community awareness of donation issues, and advocate at the legislative level for employee leave policies after donation. He is widely known among patients and colleagues for his kindness, humility, compassionate listening, and persistent willingness to help others.

Dr. Humar has a diverse range of interests in significant transplantation topics, including clinical outcome studies in kidney, liver and pancreas transplants, CMV disease in transplant recipients, outcomes in pediatric kidney and liver transplants, and small bowel transplantation. His research pursuits have resulted in numerous multi-year pharmaceutical and National Institutes of Health (NIH) grants. He has had over 200 abstracts accepted at national and international transplant meetings. In addition, he has authored or co-authored greater than 80 manuscripts, 15 book chapters and 1 book.
